Wow. I was just reading in Le Monde that through June, 2016 is the hottest year on record, but it's actually expected to cool a bit for the rest of the year. Let's hope!

20 years ago, when I was in Phoenix they were having a heat wave across the SWest & S Cal. It was hitting 118 for several days in Phoenix.   I had the *exact* thoughts as this:

Yeah, that dry heat bullshit kinda craps out around 100.  At 118, objects with mass such as buildings and cars radiated beard-melting heat as you neared them. Walking up to your hotel felt like someone had opened an oven door.
