Title: Search Console - Select target country..
Post by: Rumbas on October 26, 2016, 08:34:46 AM
I've been thinking about the "select target country" option in Google Search Console.

We have several clients with a .com targeting the whole english speaking world and I wonder if choosing US will make the appear higher in the US, but lower in all other english speaking markets?

So, leave it be and don't choose an option or go with the US as it's the large market?

Where is it hosted? I believe that if you have an IP that maps to a location in Wales, then Google will assume that the UK is your most important market. If your server IP maps to the US, then the US.

If you use a CDN and have IPs from all over the world????

So I guess where you might have an advantage is if your IP is in New Zealand and your biggest market is the US... but I'm guessing your server is not in NZ :-)
