Title: Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)

Anybody doing this yet?  It looks like there is a WP plug-in available.  Has anybody seen the carousel at the top of search results in mobile for their own searches?

Ah, Jason dropped a link on Facebook about this. So not, but I have been looking. (Sorry cannot find, will look later)

It seems it will be so diffficult for my sites, except for the wordpress blogs.  I do think it has a lot to do with information, and less to do with commerce searches.

Not yet as the options are rather limited in terms of menus, navigation and forms. But deff on my radar.

We've done some - mostly using wordpress and drupal plugins though.  Good results in terms of depth of visit on mobile devices.
Expecting G to be pushing heavily on these in 2017.

Ok Jason if you are reading this, you post too much on Facebook... finally managed to track it down:

That is what got me started on thinking about AMP.

AMPification of a couple of sites is on the table for 2017 when things slow down for me in other areas. For some sites, though, it would be a huge expense, similar to building a new site from the ground up.

Lots of buzz at Pubcon. Boser (I think) said he had not had good luck with the Wordpress plugins - depending on the theme, may be plug and play or disastrous or somewhere in between.

Also a lot of talk about Progressive Web Apps. I think AMP pages are a rest stop on the road to PWAs.

That said, there were some examples in markets that are heavily AMPified already (news media) - some of the laggards (major UK paper) got killed (I think it was a 40% drop in traffic) when Google started favoring AMP pages and they weren't AMPified yet. In other words, in some industries, if you aren't AMP, it's already too late.

Personally, I've already gotten to the point where if I see three results on the page and only the third one is AMP, I click that result first. Aside from the issues Rumbas mentioned, my biggest complaint is that in the current implementation, you can't copy and paste or share the link to the original article. All you get is the Google AMP cache link. Incredibly annoying.

I'd like to know how Google treats these AMP links for SEO if someone links to the AMP page.

There has been some good (and not so good) discussion of AMP on WMW - https://www.webmasterworld.com/google_amp/
