Highway 41 closed Sunday night and finally reopened this afternoon. We have been unable to leave for two days and, to be fair, didn't want to leave anyway.
I've been getting my exercise in shoveling and snowblowing and skiing if I have energy left

How remote is that? do you get completely cut off or are there other snowed in neighbours around?

The walk is no problem. It's the big, heavy, compacted, icy berm the plow leaves behind that takes you to your knees. But yes, back's doing okay. I've gotten soft over these last five drought winters though

We have maybe 15-20 neighbors and a lot of rental properties (150 houses total). As long as the power doesn't go out, it's kind of fun. So the neighborhood was cut off for two days, but I broke a shear pin on the snowblower and a neighbor hooked me up.

We got just shy of four feet on the deck since last I shoveled (I think that was Thursday). A neighbor who actually measures says the total for the last week is 59", so about five feet. In 2011 we had a storm that dumped 11 feet starting at 4am Sunday and finishing at on Wednesday. We were actually snowed out during that one and couldn't get back into the house for a week. When we arrived home, I walked straight onto the second floor balcony

Hasn't worked in years, living up to his name. Though he keeps an apt in PA, he's mostly been living out of his car and taking pictures of national parks and other natural areas. The first time he came to visit, he had just started and his photos were so-so. After five (?) years of doing nothing but, he does some amazing work and is selling some, but not enough to live on so he's considering (shudder) going back to work. Last time he was through was last spring I think.

After a few years skiing I see he changed his name from skibum to ski anything . He has a lovely way of catching the light.
