The torrent will be made fully accessible to everyone tomorrow at 9am ET, when Wikileaks releases the decryption password.

There are so many theories about Vault 7, it's hard to keep track."

ooooo, it's about the CIA

QuoteToday, Tuesday 7 March 2017, WikiLeaks begins its new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named "Vault 7" by WikiLeaks, it is the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.
The first full part of the series, "Year Zero", comprises 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network situated inside the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Virgina. It follows an introductory disclosure last month of CIA targeting French political parties and candidates in the lead up to the 2012 presidential election.

Hmm.

Trump tweets that CIA under Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

Director of National Intelligence dressed Trump down, telling him to withdraw wiretap claims because they were bullshit.

Wikileaks comes out with reports saying that CIA has too much power.

Edward Snowden is living in Russia, and, in the past has had his lodging paid for by Wikileaks.

Did the CIA deliberately mimic Russian hacking protocols?
March 7, 2017

This morning, WikiLeaks released their Vault 7 dump. They describe it as "the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency".

These leaks reveals an internal group within the CIA called UMBRAGE, which maintains a substantial library of attack techniques 'stolen' from malware produced in other states including the Russian Federation.

With UMBRAGE and related projects, the CIA cannot only increase its total number of attack types, but also misdirect attribution by leaving the "fingerprints" of the groups that the attack techniques were stolen from.

UMBRAGE components cover keyloggers, password collection, webcam capture, data destruction, persistence, privilege escalation, stealth, anti-virus (PSP) avoidance, and survey techniques.

QuoteAnother program described in the documents, named Umbrage, is a voluminous library of cyberattack techniques that the C.I.A. has collected from malware produced by other countries, including Russia. According to the WikiLeaks release, the large number of techniques allows the C.I.A. to mask the origin of some of its cyberattacks and confuse forensic investigators.

This raises so many interesting questions. It's known that the FBI and DHS were very pro-Trump in the rank and file. I haven't seen anything about the CIA, but I would guess there was a lot of Trump support in the rank and file. It raises the specter that elements within the CIA itself released the DNC emails in an attempt to throw the election, which is a far, far scarier proposition than Russian hacking.

I find that unlikely, but possible.

So it's become a real spy game and there are now so many possibilities

1. The Russian govt hacked the DNC and tried to throw the election and the CIA has direct human intelligence that supports this.

2. Someone hacked into the emails and the CIA has no human intelligence, but believes nobody else can fake those signatures.

3. Someone hacked into the emails and the CIA has no human intelligence and knows that other people can fake those signatures, but is worried about Trump ties to Russia and is running a propaganda war against Trump and Russia

4. Elements within the CIA hacked those emails and released them to hurt Clinton, but then other elements realized that Trump was unstable and decided to try to hurt him.

5. The same people who hacked the emails to hurt Clinton masked the hack as Russian, knowing that if the election went their way, they could then use the Russian angle against Trump, because the CIA hated both candidates and wanted to neutralize the effectiveness of either one once they got in office.

6. And 50 other variations of a feint within a feint within a feint.

I see a Church Committee coming before the end of this administration. It's been 41 years, which is too long.

I agree we need to take a look at the 17 "Agencies"

The FBI has begun preparing for a major mole hunt to determine how anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks got an alleged arsenal of hacking tools the CIA has used to spy on espionage targets, according to people familiar with the matter.

The leak rattled government and technology industry officials, who spent Tuesday scrambling to determine the accuracy and scope of the thousands of documents released by the group. They were also trying to assess the damage the revelations may cause, and what damage may come from future releases promised by WikiLeaks, these people said.

damage the revelations may cause

One interesting side note on this is that one thing that is sure to come out is that the US is mucking in elections all over the world and our outrage that a foreign power may have mucked in a US election will be put in context.

Similar to, again, the Church Committee, where a main focus was to figure out what the relationship was US-sponsored assassinations for world leaders and the Kennedy assassination and it came out just how often the CIA was involved in killing democratically elected leaders and putting dictators in place or, in some cases, killing one dictator and putting another one in place.

Further to Ergophobe's comments, The Register pointed out the following:

Quote... if you've been following US politics and WikiLeaks' mischievous role in the rise of Donald Trump, you may have clocked that Tuesday's dump was engineered to help the President pin the hacking of his political opponents' email server on the CIA. The leaked documents suggest the agency can disguise its operations as the work of a foreign government. Thus, it wasn't the Russians who broke into the Democrats' computers and, by leaking the emails, helped swing Donald the election – it was the CIA all along, Trump can now claim. That'll shut the intelligence community up. The President's pet news outlet Breitbart is already running that line.

3 rules of robotics there. Well almost :)

QuoteA robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
