Title: Looking for a social media competitor Analysis tool
Post by: Rupert on March 23, 2017, 08:47:42 AM
I have about 20 sites to look through, assess their social media activity, and put them together to see who is doing what better than me. I am thinking

Facebook,
twitter
google+
linkedin
Pinterest

I could spend what would be a few hours trawling through to see who does what, but the chances are high there is a competitor social media activity analysis tool out there that can do the first stage:

"do they play at Pinterest or don't they"

All the ones I find like socialsprout, seem to be geared towards looking at my sites social, and how to improve that. not comparing the engagement on a list of sites.

The Best tool I have found todate is www.zigstat.com right at the bottom of the report it gives a social nod.  Its not that accurate, but it is a start.

are there any free tools anyone can recommend please?

Once I have this, I can then see who has great engagement, and where and see if there are tips/devices I can use.

doing it by hand....
still open to suggestions if anyone has one.

For on going social comparisons anyone?

Signed up for a few, but not finding the tool I have in mind.

I am thinking once I have the urls, then I can put them into a scraper, and pull the data monthly.

I was going to suggest buzzsumo too, but the free requirement silenced me.  The free version is not really much use.
RavenTools had quite good high-level monitoring in it when I last used it. Again not free though

Both good calls, thanks guys.

And both making me wonder if I am looking at this the right way.

The first step is really just to see who is trying to use social, and then I think once I understand who is using social, see who is getting reach from the work.  I suspect several are doing it because they have been told to, but most are not getting much reach in this field.

So I am getting a handful of imacro scripts, and then pull the data for a month and see what I find.

So if anyone wants a copy once built, your welcome. :)

for info Buzzstream pulls the social urls if needed and twitter activity, but not the others for some reason.
