This is that BBQ place in Ayden, NC I was telling you about at Corecon. Note that it is NOT an inn, NOR is there a skylight in the building anywhere. Go figure.

I need to take the family on a road trip up to that place. Those pork rinds were excellent.
Sometimes too much attention ruins a place -- as the crowds get too big the service and quality can go down. If there is a place I like a lot I kinda hope it doesn't get too popular.
>too popular
It's been featured in more than a few magazines over the decades. Our NC magazine "Our State" runs articles on it every couple of years. It's gone through the founder's retirement and is now run by his son according to a recent article, Our State, I think. **BUT** that same son has opened a 'regular' BBQ restaurant in a nearby city. AND, face it, cooking whole hogs over wood fires has got to be a killer.
>road trip
They don't take American Express ...or anything but cash.

If done right quality doesn't have to suffer. Look at Franklin BBQ in Austin. They get more press than anyone in the country and people start lining up at 6 AM. But they only cook the amount of food they can maintain the quality on. When the 45 brisket are gone they are gone. They know they can't cook more and retain the high standards so they don't.

I grew up on pork rinds and yes, those were really good.

Hope Aaron Franklin can rebuild quickly. He's estimating a few weeks.
>>A few weeks
That really isn't too bad. Luckily his most important equipment (his bbq pits) are probably just fine. Nothing flammable on those.
