Title: Preview of Windows 10 lets you control the system with your eyes
Post by: rcjordan on August 03, 2017, 12:03:01 PM
Quotethe system will let you use your eyes as a mouse, fire up an on-screen keyboard (US layout only, for now), activate text-to-speech, or reposition UI elements.

The keyboard is possibly the most interesting feature of Eye Control: You can either type by looking at each letter individually, or use what Microsoft calls "shape-writing," which works like swipe keyboards on a touch screen.

Which means that when Win10 phones home, not only will it say which web pages you're looking at, it will say which part of those web pages you're looking at.

Meanwhile, in a bunker off Treasure Island, a team of Google engineers are hunkered down with coffee, unlimited sushi and massage therapists trying to figure out how to get this data for Google.

>which part of those web pages

Good point.

Related: Mashable requires a click to go below-the-fold. Only reason I can figure is to provide better page metrics. It's a minor PITA and, IIRC, the only site of the hundreds I visit in a week's time that requires it.

OTOH, I had a brother that was a quad.  He lived 15 years.  If the internet had been around, I can't even guesstimate what we would have given for this capability.

>>OTOH, I had a brother that was a quad

I have a couple of friends who are paralyzed. I keep reading about all the tech in the pipeline and wish they would hurry. Unfortunately, it's not coming *that* fast, but still, 10 years from now the experience of a quad or para will be completely different than what it was 10 years ago. And yes, eyetracking OS is huge.

My cousin who has Cerebral Palsy will love this.
