Anyone using something like http://postmarkapp.com/ or http://postageapp.com/ for transactional emails? Is my thinking right in looking at them (or even the shiny new Amazon SES ) for avoiding spam filters coupled with paper-trail auditing and reporting?
Mailchimp made a few grunts about offering something similar ('we are not your SMTP server ... yet'), which would be ideal from a keeping-it-all-in-one place POV, but nothing seems to be coming along in a hurry.

Calling me a spammer?
Thanks, but it's the 'transactional' aspect I'm after - coding in calls to their services to send out custom messages triggered by various events ... initial purchase request ... queue message ... backorder .... log-in links and so on. I'll look again at that thread anyways.
I know people that use Mailchipm for that to hook into for stuff like emal signups.
