As ever, I am seeing a lot of businesses that will go with the advent of Driverless cars. But there are always opportunities.
so what are they?
Here are a few thoughts:
Car prep for a journey. Car goes to be loaded with meals, and other consumables before departure (Could be done by the leasing company)
... Ok drawing a blank... there must be more?
But everything I think of, will be dealt with easilly with the supplier. Big screen for work/entertainment. They will manage the bedding ???? the servicing, insurance, everything... paying the workers needed minimum wage.
If we are talking about shared driverless car schemes then somebody is going to to be paid to clean the interior regularly. Especially after use by people with projectile vomiting kids, drunks, incontinent dogs etc. And someone will have to get the crayons and candy wrappers out from between the seats. This is why I don't see self driving car sharing as workable.
Personal injury lawyers. You know there are some lawyers out there just dying to get their hands on the first injury caused by a driverless car.
Its not high volume employment, or entrepreneurial.
The lawyer case will be entertaining I guess. Car cleaning is generally done by the Polish in th UK. They work hard at it.
Services that happen during a ride. People will no longer have to drive during their commute. This will drive longer commutes.
What will people do with all that time? Basically the same things they do now with down time - surf Facebook, watch movies, watch porn, watch online classes. I think it will drive an increase in passive entertainment. Games that go well with riding in a car might be more attractive.
Similarly, people will be trying to work more while in the car to make use of the time they're no longer at the wheel. So any services now pitched at executives who have personal drivers could be pitched to anyone. Any product that makes it easier to work in the car - in-car office setups - will sell big.
More generally, now that you don't have to drive, there is a lot of room for car customizations. As long as you can meet safety requirements, you can personalize your much more. No need for the classic arrangement. This will be even more true for electric cars as the drive train has far fewer form factor requirements. So I suspect there will be a lot of crazy customizations out there.

I am not so sure about that. In the UK there are loads of white cars. Thats because they are all leased.

Surfing.... I keep coming back to that. Social media is soo time consuming. I do miles and miles at the mo, so spend lots of time on the phone. (and audible). If I dont need my eyes it would be movies... or it might be audible and gazing out of the window, planning side trips on the route.
But still nothing to earn, which is another reason for car ownership to go down, they will be rented/leased as there will be less cash to play with.
Oh, other things that will become more popular
- race tracks
- driving games
- racing driving schools
Think of the role that horses play now, and that's the best analogy. What aspects of horse culture exist today that did not exist before the car? Most of all, riding stables with organized trail rides. That's why I say that race tracks and other opportunities to drive cars will grow as a generation comes along that doesn't bother to get a car and license for transportation.

Makes me shiver. I so enjoy spending hours in the saddle of the motor bike, the different roads, the scenery. Its like skiing in many ways.
