The goal is to communicate ideas clearly. Search engines are developing algorithms to understand documents.
In my opinion, any software that can assist in writing clearly, grammatically correct and in a manner that can be understood by a sixth or seventh grade reading level should suffice.
Isn't that a win-win if bots and the widest possible audience can understand your content?
My opinion is that this is really the heart of what writing content for bots and users should be. Everything else is over thinking it.
I got it for a small site of mine and if the data is valid - which I'm pretty sceptic and vary about - it's awesome. I'm down to 1,18% not provided and getting a shit ton of keywords in GA. I need to have our GA team look into though.
Not sure I get your point here MB? Are you saying that software that can help identify what/how the content should be written is key and having many keywords in your disposal is good? If so, I agree :)

That tool looks interesting. I've considered it before. It's basically guessing what keywords are in those unprovided lists, right?
I would love to have the actual information. The virtual information is not something I'm interested in at any price. Lists of related keyword phrases are pretty easy to find and acquire. So that's one reason why I decided to pass on that tool.
My projects target keyword phrases I develop and choose, phrases that I aim for and I know when I hit them. Something like this does not fit into my workflow. Another reason.
For content, I focus my effort on grammar and readability and that's where software is useful. There are a variety of sites, and methods for acquiring keyword phrases. Then there are strategies for anticipating phrases so that I can be first to claim the SERPs for emerging phrases. That tool just doesn't fit into my workflow.
Maybe I'm rushing to judgment. But I'm pretty happy with the way I do things. Market Muse looks expensive but useful.
They claim they have probability algos and if they probability for their guess is below 83%, they leave it as not provided.
It's not so much a matter of finding keyphrases. I can do that with Search Console and some brain storming. With the new updates, I can even see which queries come to which pages.
Things I can't do is tie a query to a session and decide which queries lead to conversions. If you know that, you know which content to strengthen. It might inform your paid search keyword discovery. Things like that. I haven't thought much about how to use it, though, to be honest. At this point I was curious whether anyone had experience with it.
So I see it as something rather different from, though related to, Market Muse (which I had never heard of until you just mentioned it).

Dean is a great marketer, I like him to pieces for being the great marketer that he is.
But... Writing easily understood content is good for all versions of search. Voice Search, where the results are spoken back, those results are currently very limited.
There's also a new program for something like three specific categories right now and that's aimed for Google Home and IoT applications. Thus, recipes is going to be a part of that.
Google Voice stuff tends to be focused on understanding voice input. Really, if you read up about this, it just makes what Dean said about it look more and more irrelevant.
The algo is trying to understand what a page is about- regardless if the query is spoken and if the query is going to be spoken back. What's important is answering questions. So whether you make it easy doesn't matter for voice search. It matters for the algo in general and also for your audience.
Why make it difficult, right? If someone with a seventh grade reading level can comprehend it then so can an algo. Spoon feed your content straight from the Gerber bottle.
