Title: Americans demanding faster and faster shipping times for their online shopping

I am now the poster child for 2-day delivery because of Prime.  I will begrudgingly allow a package to be 3-day because I will acknowledge that I live in the boonies.  Go over that and I get mad and view the company as incompetent.

I ordered a Chromecast from the Google store a couple of weeks ago.  It took 6 days or more to get here.  Unacceptable, even if there was bad weather across the US.

I actually have quit using two-day shipping unless I really need it. I usually opt for the 5-day super saver because of this

I have found that, in fact, with 5-day shipping, I am much more likely to have things bundled together, even things ordered on different days. When I do two-day, even items ordered in the same order come on different trucks half the time

That is noble, ergophobe. I'm afraid I'm with RC on this... 2 days is a long time.

Not especially. There are some things that I really need on a given day (in which case I do use 2-day shipping), but with something like a new pair of shoes or some non-essential food item, it really changes nothing for me to wait, and yet the carbon footprint is substantially different.

Frankly, I don't even check my mailbox daily (it's 2 miles away). If it gets sent via USPS, it might sit there 2-3 days before I bother to pick it up.

It's a trend that is somewhat of a problem for us. All our products are custom, individually made just for you, 2 days (apart from a few exceptions) just isn't possible. Customers want 2 days, next day if truth be told.

Next day for custom-made? And I'm sure they don't want to pay a "rush" fee.

We do, they will pay the rush fee. Very restricted range of products, still don't like it, its not life or death.

More and more we are seeing people willing to pay for expedited shipping. We did a lot of testing last year on shipping costs, shipping methods, upselling expedited shipping, free shipping, etc. and found that free shipping isn't the necessity it has been. It seems like people are more willing to pay for shipping and when you give them an incentive to upgrade their shipping to 2 day delivery they are willing to do so.
