Title: UKers, please define: commercial refuse bag
Post by: rcjordan on August 02, 2018, 03:24:59 PM
Roofer fined £300 for carrying sandwich wrappers and crisp packets in his van

I understand that fly-tipping is a big problem in some rural areas. But, except for the imprint on the side, this guy's trash bag looks like a typical plastic bag carried in millions of vehicles here in the US.

The headline is a bit misleading, surprise, surprise.
It was because he didn't have a licence to have the commercial waste bags.

Right. But what makes it a designate commercial waste bag?  You have to get special ones and a license?

So apparently there are more restrictions on carrying a commercial waste bag in your vehicle in the UK than on carrying a firearm in your vehicle in the US.

I have no further comment.

I'm reminded of a book title;
Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6611240-three-felonies-a-day

"Why? The answer lies in the very nature of modern federal criminal laws, which have exploded in number but also become impossibly broad and vague. "

A lot of local laws are passed that are rarely ever enforced but it's there so a cop can bust you if you are being an a##.

I dunno, my British friends say everything is over regulated in the US and we American's think the UK is over regulated.  This might be because we have so many layers of government in the US: Feds, State, Local, POA.

They're normally a colour other than black and have the wording trade waste or similar printed on them, so when they go to the landfill or it's picked up they can be easily checked
