It's nice to know where people are from, so please consider updating your profile (if you have not already) to show where you are from. I know some people are not keen but putting the nearest City (and country) should suffice.
FWIW I'm from Edinburgh, UK - anyone else close?
I'm originally from Galashiels but spending most of my time in Southampton, Ontario. Wasn't far away from ye but a tad further now!
I've driven through Gala a couple of times (strange to have a massive Tesco right in the middle - although you might not have been there to see that built) - I have a friend from Langholm who used to tease me about my English accent, until I realised how close that is to Englandshire.
How's Ontario? I used to see loads of adverts trying to tempt entrepreneurs over there.
Yep Gala has an unusual town centre.. there's a huge Asda right next door to the Tesco. Pretty much an eyesore but good for shopping I guess.
The winter's here are a lot harsher than in S.E. Scotland, but their roads are kept clear much better so the snow is mostly decoration. It all balances out with better summers. The problem I have just now is until now most of my income is £ and the exchange rate is poor ($1.60 vs $2.20 a few years ago). I'm aiming for permanent residency here so I may just shut up shop and start paying Canadian tax.
It's a beautiful country but hard to compare to Scotland... I'll be heading back there for a month with my better half. Hopefully the weather is decent, we'll be doing the usual haunts... but probably skip Edinburgh castle this time.
It'll be good to be back.
Unfortunately a lot of the tin-foil hat wearing crowd here are often quite reluctant to add that sort of info to their profile.
I'm in Western Japan.
Bay Area, California
I'm Edinburgh - not the one between Indianapolis and Louisville - the original one wi auld hooses 'n stuff.
Also known to frequent NY - but very, very much less since children came along.
Inbound wur neeburs
BoL - You must love it there - you can get the Sunday Post, Coronation Street, Barretts sherbert dips and you don't have to watch the tossers from Holyrood on TV every day - Bliss!
Copenhagen, Denmark, Scandinavia, Europe :)
Have not been to Japan, quite fancy it though. How many people speak English? I know I would have no chance with pronounciation.
California: closest I've been was Las Vegas (and that wasn't my thing, but I can't let that spoil my views of the western part of the States) - I will "Do America" soon (In a travel sense, don't go misunderstanding and putting me on any no fly list... Oh my God, he said he was getting ready to do America)
Copenhagen, remember it from a visit as a child (Tivoli Gardens), also went to other places in Denmark (Legoland and somewhere near the sea, I remember huge jellyfish and lots of them). Would like to go back and see it as an adult.
Before that I need to do the tourist stuff in my own Country... have neglected that.
Yosemite National Park, California, USA, Planet Earth, Solar System, Milk Way, Universe
Follow skier in this picture 3000 vertical feet to the bottom. Take a right turn. Walk 100 meters. Knock on #17 and I'll give you a cup of tea (unless it's this afternoon, in which case I'm headed up to that gully or it's sister down the line).
Had to "borrow" that pic from friend up b/c I was getting me depressed by:

Until I realized that the slow internet connection here has its compensations!

I'm in Osaka proper. I've also lived in Kyoto in the past. I'm not much of a Tokyo fan.
