It's bad. He was last seen messing with cheap chinese inline switches.

Guilty as charged  8)

the thing about a simple switch, is it can go in the wall or the ceiling. Its fast. OK, so I do worry about the build quality. But I have made so many mistakes buying wifi only stuff, and am reluctant to start trying to tie it into Hubitat.  It adds a level of complexity I don't want. That simple switch is awesome. The Shelly looks better, but no good for hubitat.

thinking about this too:
https://konnected.io/

I have an alarm system, 5 pirs all wired, door contacts.... a bell battery and a keypad....  That would mean I could use them all for lights, set the alarm from upstairs etc etc.

Digging deeper.

Same here.  I want only native or generic devices for now.  I don't want the support issues possibly arising every time there is a Hubitat firmware update.  Also, I've seen mention by the elders that custom add-on can slow the hub.  I have about $300 of wifi devices I've retired, including TP-Link ($200 of which could be salvaged with the custom drivers) but I just don't think it's worth it to bastardize a great system.

I already had two on order when I saw your post, hhh.

Ah, I should have guessed you would be down the same hole :)

>same hole

Yeah, back when I was using wifi devices, I started looking at the Sonoff Basic inline switch to hack a few small appliances.
https://www.amazon.com/Sonoff-Remote-Control-Compatible-Android/dp/B078GDFYTY
That's when I decided it was dumb to keep adding to my cloud dependencies, went looking, and eventually found Hubitat.

SO now I'm through with the basic household infrastructure and am ready to hack small appliances but -Yeow!- inline switches/relays are high-$$.  I was hoping for something like the Sonoff price of $7 each.  Those cheap chinese switches are the cheapest I could find (Amz) without going through Alibaba|Ebay and the unknown merchants problem.

>I have an alarm system, 5 pirs all wired, door contacts.... a bell battery and a keypad..

Konnected.io shows it compatible with Hubitat.  That's interesting.  One of my daughters is planning to drop her wired security service provider this summer.  Konnected.io looks to be a PITA, but it might be worthwhile to grind through it if you could salvage a previous system.

I just ordered 2 G Minis to try out their TTS stuff.

OK, these are the add on apps I use:

ABC Button Mapping
Advanced Button Controller

App Watchdog 2
App Watchdog 2 Apps Child
App Watchdog 2 Drivers Child
Konnected (Connect)
Konnected Service Manager

Simple Device Timer
Simple Device Timer Child

Squeezebox Connect

timer is very handy, and the Watchdog only updates a couple.

Ha! ...And I thought you had given it up.

>Konnected

So you have your old hard-wired system driven by HE now?

Given up :)  no just working so hard I rarely get any time to play with it :)  Lock down is making all sorts of opportunities!

Yes it was a garage alarm, that was broken but the door contacts and the PIRs were still there.

So I Konnected them up, and now they turn on the lights, and can set the alarm too.  The alarm setting is a bit clunky.... I have treid making an old phone the keypad, but it does not work. It just a pain to set, tuning it on, finding the page on the browser, then it crashes as its an old phone.  Pah, a simple hidden button is easier, like a garage door remote. But the casual buttons I have found an the Aquara ones, and I have still not got them to be reliable.  The only reliable remote I have is the Phillips one. It has 4 buttons, and I only need one. Actually 2...  Alarm set alarm unset, and I could have one inside, and one in the garage hidden out of sight.

The Knnected unit needs a good wifi link.  Mine was initially unreliable, so was causing WAF issues.

Same with the Squeezebox.... she hates it.  Despite the fact she can click a remote, turn it on and the amp turns on too. Its now too complex, as it failed once or twice.  Still does occasionally.  Been getting xap involved the developer to see if he can help.  He is on lockdown so happy to.

The one bit that really works, is tying together several lights, on a philips remote, so that we can turn them down when watching TV.

Alexa is banned in this house.... so nothing here listens in.  I have to promise to lock everything down.  ;D

>Simple Device Timer

Alexa drives our timers, which are very much used for my medical needs.   I saw Device Timer mentioned today, how are you using it? Maybe I need to consider it.

Watering system.

not used it for about 4 years, and the old mechanical one had gone west, so it does that job.  You can set 3 on and offs.

I think it was designed to make sure the timing really happened...  for the coders pool. I will use it for that too when the weather warms up. you can set checks, to cancel a schedule if something else happens.

I will also (Thinking about it now) use it for the O3 generator... no if only I could automatically open a window :)
