Title: Brain Chips To Make People Superintelligent
Post by: Mackin USA on March 05, 2019, 10:38:52 AM
The average IQ of an intelligent monkey is about 70, the average human IQ is around 100, and a genius IQ is generally considered to begin around 140. People with a smart chip in their brain could have an IQ of around 200, so would they even want to interact with the average person?

I NEED ONE

What would be th IQ score for someone who was allowed to use a computer/smart phone during the test?

I had a younger brother who tested out at 140 130-140.  He had trouble 'socializing' --for lack of a better term.

Not to sound like I'm pandering, but I bet the average IQ here is over 120.

Back on the topic, I've had several conversations with my kids about how there will likely be chips in brains within their lifetime and that the technology is likely to cause a divide.  I could see why a lot of people will not want one.  Yes, it will give you enormous advantages, but it would also leave you very vulnerable to manipulation.

Think about how invasive a chip in your head would be; you would basically be exposing your thoughts to the world and opening up a door for exploitation.  On the practical level, you would never be able to put your chip down, it is always sitting there in your head.

> so would they even want to interact with the average person?

No.

Perhaps more importantly. would the normal person want to interact with them?

No.

>He had trouble 'socializing' --for lack of a better term.

>overrated
>will give you enormous advantages, but it would also leave you very vulnerable to manipulation.

It will also bring disadvantages beyond risk of manipulation. Heightened awareness and recognition of problems that can't be solved is more of a curse than a gift, imo. (hat-tip nffc)

Don't most of us already have this?

There are kinds of stupid that no chip will ever correct.

I would make the same bet.

There's a saying that if you're the smartest person in the room it's time for a new room. I love The Core for that reason ... there's lots of people smarter than I am about a variety of things.

>> kinds of stupid that no chip will ever correct

Yup. Mea culpa, sometimes!  ;D

Love that article, very eye opening. Last  line: "Without the booze and drugs," he said, "I'd have the mind of a third-rate accountant."

So, how do you all strike a balance between life's pleasures and your own personal role in the unraveling?

I hold back.

Think how dark it'd be in here if I told you what I really think is happening.

I'd risk/accept some darkness if it helped me to understand the world more realistically.

Suggestion: start a dedicated "dark thread" similar to the one for recession items.

My habit, is, I always look at worse case scenario first.

"Dark Thread" - good idea buckworks.  I'd rather know about honest assessments, even if they are dark, rather than be surprised later.
