Title: FF4 has dropped
Post by: bill on March 22, 2011, 08:56:31 AM
I picked up what is supposedly the release version of FireFox several hours ago. (Hey it's only 5 months behind schedule...) I must say that in my short experience, "I like it." It seems quicker and more stable than IE9, and plus it handles most of the Add-Ons that I rely on daily. I just might switch back to FF from my current fav SRWare Iron (Chromium).

I've been away from FF for quite some time now. They got rid of the bloated startup and cleaned up the interface a bit. I don't like that you have to use an Add-On to get the Statusbar to show, but other than that I haven't run into any glitches.

Been on it for a while and it seems "ok".

Any sign that they have sorted the memory leak issues?

I have been using it today.  Looks good so far.  Nice and fast.

Not sure they have the memory leak problem anymore. Works like a charm for me.

i was prompted to upgrade my firefox version 3.6 tonight and after it had finished it directed me to the firefox page and a saw they had version 4...upgraded to that and things seem OK so far

i have been having major problems with firefox for over 12 months with the memory leak and it not closing down correctly so I am hoping thats now been resolved

Certainly seems snappier than previous versions. Not a fan of the minimal layout, but 5 minutes moving things around and I feel at home. Moz are now reporting 7.1M downloads in the first 24 hours, and the ticker's at 11.5M as I type.

I've pushed all my machines to FF4 now and I'm liking the speed and stability so far. I used IE9 for several days as my primary browser, and I must say that FF4 is comparable in terms of speed and stability. IE9 lacks a lot of the usability that I get with my FF Add-ons. That gives FF4 the edge so far.

Is anyone having a problem with SEOquake.   My toggle seems to work intermittently.

I have a problem with seo quake on all computers and all versions of FF at the moment :( I assume I did something stupid but perhaps its not just me.

I do have a problem with FF4 and several plugins, but I guess they'll get updated. Pity I had only taken half the screengrabs I needed for a big report before I upgraded though!

I started using it yesterday, seems to still have a memory leak issue.

@Gurtie: Fireshot works on FF4 if that's what you're getting at.
