Title: Lightening fried ISP
Post by: rcjordan on July 25, 2019, 12:00:27 AM
I'm having to use phone browser while the cable company sorta maybe thinks about fixing it.  So NO userscripts and no page-ripping.  This sucks.

Hotspot your phone for your notebook/laptop.

Damn, sorry RC.  Living without a proper internet connection could be tough.

>Hotspot

Good idea.  You may be able to find this on your phone as an option sometimes called tethering.

I never paid Verizon for hotspot service.   ....But I might now if I have to live without filtering & ripping much longer.

I find it hard to believe that -what?- 60% of users access the web via mobile.  This is excruciatingly painful.

To me it is ok for passive stuff, but anything interactive at all and I hate using mobile -- even responding to an email or posting here.

>pay

It might be free now, I really wouldn't know . I try to keep our interaction with predatory Verizon to a bare minimum.

>interactive stuff

Yeah, and without my scripts & browser extensions I can't cull that crap or process high volumes of pages.

Might be worth a shot if you are still offline. If it's free it should just work when you enable it.

I'm still using your GreaseMonkey filter for NewsNow, and it works great.

Any word from the cable guys, RC?

>cable

They want me to replace the modern.  It's supposed to be here today.

I'll be surprised if that's it, as my neighbors lost access as well.
