I've got to update my home computer system and am looking to put most of my files in cloud storage.
What is the most stable and cost-effective cloud system out there?
I got a "lifetime" plan with pCloud for cheap ($49) through AppSumo. I haven't seen that deal come around in a while though.
Right now it's $350 for 2TB "for life" or $8/mo for 2TB if paid annually.

Plus - Swiss company, Linux-compatible, privacy-oriented, full encryption, doesn't have a "suite" they're trying to sell you.
Google Drive is $20/mo for 2TB. So the payback period is 18 months.
Dropbox is 10/mo for 2TB, so the payback is 35 months
OneDrive is $70/year for 1TB, so the payback is 60 months (no 2TB plan)
Do you ever have an issue with speed?
*added* I figured everyone would have an opinion on this...?
*added again* also, put up your affiliate link to pcloud so you get credit.

I'm just as interested as you are. I've been considering self hosted like https://nextcloud.com/ but I get mixed reviews from people so far, they either love it or hate it. Plus I worry about hackers.
So far this pCloud sounds the best.
How much storage do you need?
>>speed
pCloud says they do not throttle. I would have no idea if speed is an issue, because I'm usually on such slow connections. I had to wait to sync my drive until I was giving a course at a university that had 40Mbps upstream (as I found, it's easy to find 40Mbps downstream, but most of those connections are way under 10Mbps upstream). In any case, the limiting factor has always been my connection speed, not pCloud. They would absorb as much data as the university would allow me to push into the pipe.

Thanks. I would never reach the payout threshold on that one and I have a lifetime plan with 2TB and full encryption and I'm only using 1TB, so credits don't help.
