I'm no expert, but surely these problems won't disappear next year, or the next. The amount of energy bought at that price was tiny, but perhaps a sign of things to come given the market for energy.

Mentioned it before on here. This new turbine is about 100 miles from me so a fair chance some of the electrons I use are from there.

Reserved 3200 kWh/year, £1800 commitment, save £3000 over 25 years if the wholesale cost is 5p. It's been substantially higher than 5p the past year. I'm thinking worst case I break even but have green energy

TLDR is you're reserving a share of a wind turbine via a co-op, 2p/kWh reserved for maintenance, an assumption of 10p/kWh as the wholesale cost, 20p/kWh as the retail cost - you get the benefit of (retail cost - wholesale).

It ignores standing charges which are typical for energy suppliers, usually about 25p a day.

Think this is potentially interesting alongside a battery and something like Octopus Agile pricing.

There's a lot of number crunching involved but it seems like there's a decent opportunity to take advantage with some initial investment. Gas and electricity wholesale prices have spiked recently. (was paying 15p/kWh with a company that went bust from the recent price spikes and was shifted to a provider offering 25p/kWh). Looked at other offerings and standard variable is 20p/kWh and fixed rates are generally 25p/kWh or higher.

Makes me wonder about investing in solar of even a micro turbine and/or battery when economy of scale with a larger turbine seems to be better value for money. Food for thought. The agile pricing is interesting, almost along the lines of carbon credits when it comes to energy consumption.

Looks a bit like the '3 sea shells' to me. Might take a bit of getting used to.

We've been after 100x drive bays to fit 2.5" SSDs into 3.5" bays, apparently there's a bit of a shortage of these and they go for around £10-15 each - the cheaper ones are out of position of where we'd want to mount the drive.

Got us thinking about 3d printers, you can buy one for around the same price as buying the bays retail.

Anyone have any pointers on whether buying a £1K 3d-printer is versatile enough, and/or whether there's decent UK providers who can custom print these?

Wondering if anyone has any wisdom on this kind of setup: raising funds for local community charity projects with revenue from aff programs.

Guess it could be setup a couple of ways
1) Simply links with aff code saying "by visiting our partners and purchasing, a % of proceeds will go to our community projects"
2) Flesh it out a bit into an aff site with the same aim but having something more substantial to show for it.

TLDR it's an HTML 'cleaner' but has been injecting links into the cleaned HTML. Very clever/sneaky... really risky too.

I'd moved house in October last year and the first person to knock on my door was a neighbour telling me how the local Council want to build a new school/campus on the park behind our houses. Because of COVID, the public consultation aspect has been held entirely online.

We've made a point of dissecting the site and a number of public have complained they cannot access the site at all.

For some daft reason it does some user agent sniffing and won't let certain user agents in at all, including linux users and Googlebot.

The most amusing part is in the image. Click on reject cookies, you get tracked, click accept you don't.

I'm not one for knowing the finer details of GDPR and the obligations of public bodies to provide accessible info, but to me this site is failing in a few regards.
