Vivaldi for tablets doesn't scroll from the above keyboard. The trackball scrollwheel takes care of that.  I used this setup while traveling last week, worked very well as a craptop.

Simpler and cheaper (given that you own the Fire) than my Chromebook setup, but the Chromebook is still a great travel machine if you don't need and don't want to risk a full-price machine.

My new laptop is actually lighter than the Chromebook, but it is a lot more expensive to lose

I have a spare Chromebook or 2 lying about but I want a dedicated travel machine that only logs into the bare minimum of sites that I use routinely --specifically, NO Amazon, ebay, or paypal access.  On th3core site, for example, I set the login cookie for only a day or two while on the craptop.

Having gone through Louise losing her phone with all of her 'Remember Me' logins intact while in Hanoi, I learned the hard way what a PITA changing dozens of logins can be.

>> expensive to lose

I love my Mac Air for travel as well as daily use, but the cost of losing it is definitely a concern.

Macbook Air is a great form factor for travel. But I put my Chromebook in the seatback pocket and left it there. A little bummer, but it was $160 with very limited local data and the ability to lock it at a distance. The airline eventually got it back to me.

If I lost a Macbook Air I would be distraught both b/c of the cost and b/c the hard drive, if unencrypted, would have the keys to my life. Is your hard drive fully encrypted?
