I was often surprised at how well-meaning, good, decent, fundamentally honest human beings would ask me to do impossible things that would require vicious tracking ("can we serve an ad that targets just people who have visited our competitor's website?) if it meant a 20% increase in ROAS. They don't see until it is explained to them how much worse the world would be if some of the things they ask for were available.

In other words, yes, they will of course do the right thing, and the right thing with few exception is to increase profits for their company.
