I do think mobile Linux is the long term solution to break the Google and Apple duo-opoly on mobile.

I know you think it's crazy - but I appreciate having a way to deposit checks without having to drive an hour.  I could use the USPS of course. I suppose if it came to it, I would.

Mostly my "phone" is a podcast listening device. I don't make or receive phone calls on my pocket supercomputer. If the phone function were removed, I wouldn't miss it. Most texts I send from my computer. I could probably get by without texts too (in other words, mostly I would be okay with a iPod). It is nice to be able to text my wife from the store though.

One thing I like about Pine phone is they seem to realize that they need to upgrade the processor speed and hardware in order to gain wider acceptance.  Neither HP with webOS nor Blackberry with BB10 seemed to understand this and always had underperforming hardware.

Same. I'd have to spend $3400 on the pinephone. $400 for the phone and $3k in plane tickets over to LM to have him set it up for me.
