When her kids were young, my sister had a part-time job at The Gap. They insisted that everyone do this weird Gap Cheer thing with a funky body movement and such to start the day. She just looked at the manager, who was much younger, and said: "Look, I will show up on time and be a good worker, but I was a teenager in the 1960s. We don't do company cheers. It's not negotiable."

A chain ice cream parlor opened in town a few years ago.  I went in.  I was the only customer.  As the two employees made my order one prompted the other and they started singing some sort of corporate fake cheerful ice cream song.  It just felt awkward. I now know why I was the only customer.  I never went back.
