Path of Total Eclipse April 2024

I did the last one with my family.  It is definitely worth seeing.  So, where along the path is most likely to have clear skies?

Good question.  That path is pretty much dead-center of the April Spring Storm paths. 

We did the last one, too. But were totally blocked by a big thunderstorm passing through Charleston SC.

That's really a shame.  We went to Oregon and had clear skies.  Partial eclipses are cool, but they are really not nearly as visually spectacular as the full thing.  Everyone should see one at least once in their life.

A local (very average) Hampton Inn that usually books at $140 per night is $850 on April 7, 2024.

We already have a plan to visit my dad, who is right in the path in Vermont.

We are also planning to go the one in Utah in October. A friend just reserved a group campsite two days ago.

We had one when I was a little kid, but all I remember is they told us it was super dangerous to look at the sun and for our protection we should all stay inside, which we did. So so much for the discussion of letting kids do all manner of dangerous things in the 1960s. They wouldn't let us watch the eclipse (I was very young, so my memory is probably not very accurate).
