Godaddy SUCKS

So I'm sitting on the beach last week, and notice I had a missed call. Voicemail says it's Godaddy, I need to call them.

Ok, so I call. Even though they have my phone number and see it's me calling, they can't verify it's me without my credit card last SIX digits. (I know the last 4, but that ain't good enough.)

MF can't even tell me if there is a problem with my account or if they're trying to sell me something. So I have to slog back to the room, dig out my CC and deal with this hassle while leaving the sun, sand and surf. At least we were already ocean front. All this to find out it was a "courtesy call" to try and sell me some of their overpriced and unnecessary crap services. I ask them to take me off their telemarketing list, and the jerk says they can do that but they'll then never call me even in the event of a problem. WTF?

Fine, whatever. You get what you pay for yadda yadda, I only use them because I have a few domains there and the coupons make it worth dealing with their crap. Well, it used to anyway.

Today, I get an email where someone has inquired about inaccurate whois data. Costs me $20, just because email bounced. Yet, this is just handled by email, not a phone call, and it costs me $20 "administrative fee" BS.

Ok, rant over. Recommended registrars?

I also use namecheap (highly recommend) and couple other minor ones. Looking for other major players with decent prices, maybe good transfer deals. Moniker?

Name.com
I used to be their poster boy of sorts :)

Edit: removed the rest seeing as this is a public board. Drastic, sending you a PM

Re: first world problems - I have quite a few of those as well so definitely not the one to judge

Thanks for adding that. I was thinking of moving there from Moniker, but name.com and namecheap.com are essentially the same price.

namecheap's control panel is a nightmare.... probably because it's not written and laid out for a 5 year old to understand.
Apart from that, I love it :)

>>namecheap's control panel is a nightmare

That's part of what I dislike about Moniker... but just part of it

My main pet peeve with namecheap was 10 steps to change the name servers and they still fucking them up and domains not resolving - across 3 (yes, three!) different hosts

Don't user Moniker.  Seems they have serious problems now and no one can even login there, including me.........Idiots. I see on their FB page that the login thing is pretty widespread with people complaining and their rep c & p'ing "call them" on a line that doesn't get answered  >:(

I don't have a huge stock of domains I own but namecheap hasn't been bad for me.  There hasn't been any BS.
