QuoteThe good news is that Tuesday's repeal should bring more attention to the marketing of personal data by internet service providers.

The 265 members of Congress who sold you out to ISPs, and how much it cost to buy them

(Note the 2nd column)

There is a growing movement to buy & publish the browser histories of the above 265 congress members.  That'll work, except they'll legislate to block it as 'illegal hacking of sensitive government data' or somesuch.

Only 15 Republican Yeas and 0 Democrat. I haven't followed this  that closely, but can someone explain why this issue is a party-line vote? I would have thought there would be more than 15 Libertarians out of 230 Republicans. Is it party-line for the simple fact that everything seems to be party-line these days? I don't get that.

I guess the Libertarian argument is that the government shouldn't be regulating business and you have the right to take your business elsewhere, ignoring the fact that in most places you actually don't.

And... I just looked and my super conservative, Republican, "Constitution above all" congressman voted Nay. I'm going to send him a thank you note for actually sticking to his principles instead of voting the party line.

Isn't that the opposite of Libertarianism?  I mean the Libertarian would generally say "let the markets decide" and get rid of any regulation.  I believe some things need to be regulated.
