Cant get rid of old Google listing.

I made a business listing for a client, he wanted to change the category but i couldn't so i removed the listing and created a new one.

Trouble is, the old one is still showing up in maps and search when you type in the company name, although the new one shows when you choose 'show on maps/search' from within the listing control panel.

How long does it typically take for a listing you've removed to disappear?

The first listing was verified by mobile phone and the new one by postcard.
