Phoenix reaches hottest temperature of the year

TL;DR: 115F/46.1C

We were once in Phx when it was 118F.  You couldn't get near a building, vehicle, or anything with mass or the radiant heat would bake you.  Vehicle seats and dashboards required extra care as they would literally scald you.  /r says locals keep oven mitts in their cars to handle the steering wheel, but they insist that it's not that hot --no humidity.

I heard that the Phoenix area stay above 100 degrees all night long sometimes in the Summer.
