Mojeek: Progress 2020

Interesting stuff on Mojeek:

1. The Index has reached 3 billion pages.  Up from 2 billion last year.  Goal is 5 - 6 billion in 2021.  (I have noticed lots of new pages, recently crawled.)

2. New CEO, Colin Hayhurst.  The Founder, Marc Smith, is still there, so I assume this move is to give Marc more time to write code for the search engine, since he is the principal architect.

3. They are working on adding maps and business listings.

They keep working to improve and expand.  They have not hit a ceiling and stalled out like Gigablast did and they have not just quit like so many others.  So good on them.

Just from the interview, they have a custom site search, an API for those wanting to use Mojeek in a meta-search.  At some point they will need to add adverts to the SERP's.

I can see a demand for site search.  And I can also see a demand for adding Mojeek to some of the various meta engines that want to differentiate themselves from being just a vanilla Bing retread.
