QuoteIt's funny, (the Nobel Prize-winning psychologist) Daniel Kahneman said that, by teaching people about these behavioural biases, he didn't have a lot of hope that it would change their behaviour. He just thought that, next time you do something stupid, you would know what to name it.

Julia Galef taught classes on cognitive bias thinking it would help people reason better and be less subject to these biases, but the training had no effect. Her efforts to come up with something that would have an effect led to her book, The Scout Mindset

I haven't read it because I would have to give up too many of my strongly held opinions if I did, but I did take the risk of listening to a long-form interview with her. So far so good. I haven't changed my mind about anything.
