Charity Commision and Accounting

I was wondering if anyone has any dealings with a registered UK charity?

They look to be hotter than companies house.

I was after some pointers as to how you/they deal with the accounts, eg what system or homegrown excel worksheet. Any good online examples?

I want to get this sorted before it gets too far down the track.
