Google SERPS on my iPhone shows question marks next to some listings?

Either my phone went screwy or I just saw a test...

To the left of every listing, including ads, I saw either a green circle or yellowish circle with a question mark next to it. I then checked my newest site which is 6 months old(?) and saw it had a question mark next to it.

No idea.... it's all gone now.

There was also an empty mouse over dialogue box.  They were all empty so I refreshed and then they were gone.

... For whatever that is worth.

3G... I think.

What I also thought was interesting was that there was also green circles on the left of the ads too, not just the listings. And from just a quick look at the top 10 I thought I saw a pattern... The well known sites were green. The question mark sites were more sketchy. But that was just a quick look.

When I clicked on the question mark it would open a little box, but it was empty.

I think I actually successfully refreshed the page once. The second time I refreshed, it went back to normal.

I'll tell you though, it felt like a test, not a random error.

I wonder if this is a potential security feature, as it sounds a bit like SiteAdvisor, to show which sites have been scanned as clean,  which haven't, and which may have previous historical issues.

Were you on Android by any chance? They've been reportedly abused by botnet's recently so could it have a check on IP's?

No, on an iPhone 4 on safari.

I guess that's not a bad guess either. I only went through that serp once, but it seemed to be showing green on decent, well known sites. The ones with the ? seemed to be more sketchy, just looking at urls and titles.
