I did have an interesting conversation with Chargebee this morning. They are planning to roll out a self serve customer portal next month that will allow customers to manage their subscriptions.
So far that sounds like the best setup along with SagePay to start with... until I things get rolling, then because the card data in chargebee is portable I should have more clout and options at my disposal.

Thanks Chuckford it all looks interesting I have bookmarked that link and this thread to look at when I get time to put this into place.
