It's 18 months old but I've only stumbled across this today.

Very persuasive arguments....

Good find. No excellent find.

Yes he's right. Frankly, the Internet would be better off without Google.

Thanks for posting that, JasonD!

Ugh - will try again later. Some of his general points seem interesting, but either I need more sleep or his writing is appalling.

My thought as well. Couldn't make it through to the end.

Granted. However, the author is a philosopher, so some fuzziness is almost a requirement.  I think if he wrote it clearly and in a straightforward manner it would just come across as just another SEO whine.  He's trying to make it personal, to show that Cutts and Sergey can't fob off  personal responsibility for their actions.  It's debatable if this is effective conceit but his points, once you dig them out, have merit.

I might have crossed wires. "philosopher".  I though this guy was an SEO.  I may have him crossed with someone else, but I thought he was a chap called out for talking bollocks on Moz  (how that stood out I will never know)

He does mention having a degree of some sort relating to philosophy/morality. It does seem like his more elaborate way of writing is to dispel the "Google are dicks, they banned my sites" angle :)

I don't know the guy or his work well enough to comment on the accuracy of the following link.  Made me smile though:

Starting reading then saw the scroll bar.

That is amusing. Notice that Jacob King himself appears around the middle of the list of assholes.

No surprises for the first three - Matt Cutts, Rand, Neil Patel... after that I'm a bit surprised by the order ;-0

Side: sometimes I use TTS to listen to long wordy articles like this while I do other things.  It saves time and lets me work.

The author is right but he's also wrong.  Google does not need to be morally justified in what it does -- they just needs keep people using their products.

Justification has nothing to do with it.  They own the database and have near monopoly power over search. Putting on a face as of morality is just a PR tool which pads the bottom line.
