Will Larry Page make a difference as CEO

What do people think of Larry Page becoming CEO again.  Bloomberg has a piece which kind of says that founders in CEO positions are best (uses Jobs, Bezos and Ellison) while over at ATD Liz Gannes is saying that he is a bit to unsocial - with a great quote from Ken Auletta's book.  Danny gives him a list of stuff to do which reads like a professorial lecture to send him squirming back to that garage and start coding.

With the size of Google nowadays, how much of a difference will Page actually make?

Someone on one of the SNS networks had a great 140 character quip about Page being the most antisocial CEO they knew...wish I'd saved the wording. He certainly doesn't come across as a dynamic as some other company heads.

On the other hand, some of the talking heads in the tech-podcasts seem to be hearing that the Googlers are all very supportive of this change.

Irrespective of what type of person - shareholders want to hope he starts moving G back to what it does best... they are diversifying into areas where they are being beaten hands down - read Social most recently and if they carry on bastardising their search engine, search too!

I am not the biggest fan of G - but you struggled to find too many issues with their search engine of 3 years ago in terms of accuracy, speed and relevancy.
