One more reason to stick with my old flip phone!

We have a client testing beacons in their stores to analyze what the customers are looking at. You don't even need them to install an app - you just make a deal with Spotify and have them grab the data for you..

I know that a few visitor attractions and shopping centres track people as their mobile devices move around.   No app install, just uses device data available as your mobile tried to connect to different wifi spots. No means to deliver ads through that though, but useful in the use case like Rumbas mentions.

Of course, if you have access to an app (or partner with someone who does) it is even easier. Location data is being seen more and more as an asset to monetize. Even more valuable when partnered with device matching.

>Spotify?  Like the music app?

Yup, absolutely. If you're big enough, use the right beacon supplier, you can, by forking up the case, in deed have Spotify do your tracking. Eg. Spotify will let you use their app for tracking users for your stuff. It's through Spotify though, but a 3rd party vendor imo.
