That is not a 5 minute read.....

The New AOL structure has been re evaluated now they have looked at their page view pay back rates.  They have doubled from the model they were working on last year.

Good god, that page takes forever and a day to load. To save others the trouble, here's one PDF that covers it all. The pagination at the bottom is wrong because it was for the whole thing. The PDF is just the AOL doc, not all the comments and the intro

AOL is going to need to do something.  It is a dying giant.  I can't believe it is still running.

The thing is though, I'd like to see this succeed:  it'd be nice to have something other than "all google all the time.,"

Actually...there might be some possiblity to get some business as a web writer...it says they are hiring freelancers.  And, if they need 5 to 10 stories a day, they'll need every freelancer they can get.  I think that this could cause content writers to raise their prices...

QuoteI can't believe it is still running.

Just recently had a customer give me an AOL email address and I thought "Really? I didn't know those still existed." It's so easy to forget that it's still a giant company (at least compared to a small business). I wouldn't expect it to disappear, but I'd be amazed if it's 50% of current size by any measure (employees, market cap, revenue) in 5 years.

I'd love to see them prove me wrong though - too much consolidation in the internet world already for my test. I'm just wondering whether we'll all eventually end up with a FaBoogle.com or a GooBook.com email address.
