In the late '60s I was behind a Corvair that took out its oil pan on the lip of a manhole cover exposed an inch above the pavement. Can confirm that the oil streak in the video looks legit.

The one I was pursuing was overloaded with good-looking cheerleaders.  I was closing in fast in an big Healy which had lower ground clearance than the Corvair. Just missed the manhole cover myself when I saw their oil & smoke plume.  (And easily caught up with the cheerleaders with the now-ruined engine.)
