I haven't been paying that much attention, but I honestly don't get how they couldn't  grow from their own revenue while staying in the market they have carved out.  Clearly there is demand, and willing "content creators".  We've been down this road before, the transformation non-explicit content will end up killing the company.

It is Mastercard & VISA calling the shots on this.  Without major cc processors, the model can't survive at all. 

The credit card companies tried to shut down Pornhub last year using the same trick.  IIRC, PH negotiated by agreeing to closely monitor possible underage creators.

But the number of women & men getting into porn creation must have increased by an order of magnitude during the pandemic.  While I'm far from a prude on this, the barrage on reddit of new OnlyFans accounts trying to get new users got to be ridiculous and still is so.

Take a look at reddit.com/r/all/new/ without any filters just about any time of day.  It is usually packed with OF wannabes.

Yeah, that's kind of sad.  I am sure most of them will make nothing or very little. 

I am not sure why OnlyFans couldn't police their content the same way PH does?

Debbie says that PH is a very large, very well-off, centrally managed, multi-domain operation that had enough accounts to have some bargaining clout when negotiating with the banks & cc companies.  It seemed to have large amount of professional porn creators, too.  OF is just the opposite.  I think the largely DIY amateur sex worker status is really OF's main problem.  Trafficking by a pimp, for instance, could be much easier on the OF model.
