I think this will really ramp up once we have standing approval instead of emergency use for the vaccines. End of the month the first supposedly clears approval iirc.

Biden just put the shoulder to nursing homes  ...get the staff vaccinated or lose Medicare & Medicaid payments.  They live on Medicare & Medicaid payments.

Recent all-employee meeting in the park. People could submit questions ahead of time. One of the questions: "Will I be forced to choose between keeping my job and taking an untested drug?"

Other question: We have plexiglass shields in front of us to protect us from the public, but no shield to the side to protect us from co-workers who refuse to get vaccinated. Can we get side shields as well?

We have one remaining holdout in the office. The other one quit a few weeks ago. I told the last one yesterday to expect we will likely require full vaccination very soon to stay on board.

I heard "vaccine concerns", "religious concerns" and tears were shed. I said we'd talk through it but I'm sticking to my guns.

Yosemite is partially in Tuolumne County

"In August, nine Northern California counties have seen more patients hospitalized with COVID-19 than at any other point in the pandemic: Amador, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Placer, Plumas, Shasta and Tuolumne."

I think I posted that in the Save yourself thread (that info anyway, but different article). I am pretty sure that is an undercount of counties. Meanwhile the neighbor, and unvaccinated retired physician, tells me it's all a media hoax and that the vaccine is more dangerous than the disease.

Great quote

Quote"'You told us to do all these things last year, and it never materialized,'" Inscore said the person told him. "'Why should we believe you now?' Well, I'll tell you why you should believe us now: because the wolf is here."

My feeds are full of headlines about schools switching to mask mandates or -fewer- going back to virtual.  My granddaughter's 1st grade class didn't make it a week before they were quarantined.

Duh, isn't "never materialized" exactly the point?

That's the paradox of prevention ... a warning is given and heeded, then when the bad thing doesn't happen some people think the concern was overblown and dismiss the risk as no big deal.

I wish I had an effective response to such thinking.
