It was also 50 years ago on I think 4th Feb, that Rolls Royce aero Engines went into Bankruptcy over problems with a carbon fibre fan blade.  (Dad was working there at the time, the anniversary went by unnoticed in our City of Derby, the Head office of the Company.)

I find both of these events quite astonishing.

Here's the shocking thing in Switzerland: women did not gain full voting rights in the the canton of Apenzell until 1991. Until then, they could vote in federal elections, but not local and cantonal elections.
