For a local business - even if your business has an international audience as we do with park lodging - GMB is crucial. The other big players are worth it too - Yelp, TripAdvisor, Yahoo! and a variety of big niche players.

They send you a performance report monthly. Fairly interesting. GMB, among a few other things, allowed us to book our vacation rental for June almost without Airbnb or VRBO.

At the hotel, where we needed more like 150 bookings per day, these channels are worth millions in annual sales.

From an effort point of view, that article is spot on - 2 hours spent claiming your GMB listing is worth 200 hours of writing content, easily.
