I hope somewhere, we are doing experiments with planting more heat tolerant trees further north.  It's been hinted at on a small scale but I hope we're doing a bit more now because it takes so long with trees.

One big question is what happens as low-latitude species move north and low-altitude species move high? At a certain point, the high-latitude and high-altitude species have nowhere to go. Someone must be thinking about that.

For example, locally, there are some "nunatak" species like the Lyell Salamander that live on mountains that were nunataks* and sooner or later will run out of mountain.

*nunataks are mountains that project through glacial ice. During ice ages, a species can be wiped out of the lowlands and survive on the nunatak, but when the ice recedes, they are no longer able to go down and they become speciated from what were once their brethren. Having adapted to the cold and the altitude, they are no longer able to migrate across the hot lowlands, so they are stuck on the mountain range or, in some cases, single peak that they live on.
