I was going to put it in the Technology section since writing is one of the most important techs ever invented.

Interesting how the isolated Central American written languages existed for so long without spreading to the rest of the Americas.   suppose that has to do with North <=> South geography vs East <=> West travel through similar environmental conditions.

I think it's interesting that some places had writing, then lost writing, then had writing again.  The British isles had Runes, then had nothing, then had Runes again.
