Have you considered running in the 2024 Olympics, RC?

rcjordan

I'm up to 2 liters black + 6 oz espresso per day.  Those olympic guys wouldn't stand a chance against The Flash.

RC, I hate to be negative about your Olympic prospects, but I suspect that beyond a certain point, additional caffeine does not lead to additional performance gains. I suspect after the first liter, the gains in performance level off. The increase in life satisfaction and pleasure, however, may not have even peaked

>>led to a 0.14-second faster time

That is equivalent to how much the world record in the 100M changed from 1983 to 1999. From 1968 to 1999 it only changed by 0.16 seconds

>>the drug was just as effective for regular coffee drinkers as it was for non-habitual consumers.

I've heard that before from other studies. That's sort of a big finding. It means that you do not have to keep increasing the dose to get the effect.

Yeah, I hardly get a buzz from it and I drink a medium-strong, higher caffeine blend (stay away from weaker dark roast).  I may have mentioned it earlier, but this intake is an attempt to rehab a kidney. Though I was a coffee addict from my programming days, I'm drinking so much coffee now for its diuretic effects --with some success!

>buzz

The worst caffeine buzz I ever had was by eating two bags of chocolate-coated, french-roasted whole beans.  Man! I really had the shakes with that one.

Have you tried any of the New-Age mushroom things? A houseguest brought us some Four Sigmatic coffee with chaga and cordyceps mushroom. As someone whose strongest caffeine drink is black tea, it felt pretty intense (even though the caffeine load is only 47mg).

I'm not sure I like it.

>chocolate-coated, french-roasted whole beans.

Those are excellent. They're difficult to stop eating.

No, I try to keep my addictions cheap and easy. hhh

I did buy a $100 espresso machine to boost the coffee intake without proportionally increasing the water. That has worked out pretty well and the quick, down-n-dirty 6 oz espresso is really good.

>Those are excellent. They're difficult to stop eating.

Ain't that the truth!  The headline would have been "Man dies of self-inflicted caffeine overdose in White River Junction, VT strip mall parking lot while wife & kids were shopping."

ergophobe

I've been to White River Jct. I could see wanting to do that

rcjordan

>White River Jct

West Lebanon, NH (across the river) is worse. A daughter went to boarding school there.

I did like the Powerhouse Mall conversion in WRJ, if it is still there it is worth a visit to see what the architects did.

>strip

Oddly, a JC Penney's store there re-invented itself as a regional Tall Womens' clothing store.  Louise is 5'-10" and our oldest girls are 6'+ ...so it was a must-stop on visits.  That place was busy with women coming to shop there from all over the northeast.
