People ask you what you do for a living so they can calculate the level of respect to give you. -/r/ShowerThoughts

It's true. My wife *hates* it when I answer "handyman" or "Fixit guy"  ...but that was/is a pretty accurate description.

My first business card I ever printed up said, "Slacker. Dissertator." (I created it to celebrate passing my doctoral "prelim" exams which make you "ABD" - all but dissertation)

My second one said, "Faineant expérimenté. Consultations sur rendez-vous" (experienced do-nothing. Consultations by appointment).

My favorite answer for "What do you do?" is "About what?"

My favorite business card and the one that I keep thinking about getting is Akbar's in the movie Today's Special (really fun movie BTW)
