I am looking for something to help with link exchanges.  I used to just do it as and when, but the more sites I get the harder it is.

So, I was wondering what people use to help them manage the job?  There seem to be plenty of things around, but I'd be interested to hear peoples experiences.

I have been playing with LinkOrganizer (http://lo.cheapestwebsoftware.com/)

It has a clunky interface, but it works.

Thanks for the tip.  I am after something to handle the email request side of it too though.

I've never seen a good one off the shelf and I had a good look at one point. Whats the scope? Does it ust need to store some emails and remind you when its renewal time, or are you wanting something to prioritise target sites, run multiple users and check for bad links afterwards?

Oh I tried  a tool to do that, many years ago.  It even built the directory for you.  It was about the time of Topdogg.  Got it:
http://www.cyber-robotics.com/

Trouble is the directory has to be completely rebuilt, as out of the box it has an obvious footprint. And it need very careful fine tuning.

I seem to remember it crawls the web looking for similar sites, and then you can email them.  Then it checks if they have put up a link.  If they have then it puts one up for them in the  directory.

So if you just want it to manage the ones you have it might be a bit of an over kill, but at $100......
... Make sure you live before you die.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a look through these today.

I also found - http://www.link-assistant.com/  .  Looks quite good.  Anyone used it? ***

As for the scope Gurtie, everything you have mentioned apart from the renewal reminders, I handle anything which needs to be renewed via a different process.  This is really just to get link exchange requests going out on a regular basis.  Long term it should be something I can hand off to a helper.  It has to manage links on 30+ sites too.

***EDIT: Looks like they hit you with fees 6 months down the line (always read the small print eh!) http://www.link-assistant.com/linkassistant/pro-live-plan-extension.html
