VW cut most of the physical controls out of its early EVs and learned a long, painful lesson.

Thanks!  Sending to Volvo middle-management now.

Hope that trend continues. Buttons and dials over screens, especially for climate control.

I am all for this -- real dials and buttons, things a driver can recognize by touch and don't require eyes to use.  I really dislike touchscreen controls in cars.

Also, right-handed front seat passengers can't operate touch-screens with their left hand and twisting in the seat to use their right hand isn't very --ummm-- ergonomic.

On my touch screen Subaru there is a lag between touching the screen button and and it actually doing what you want.  ie. turning off the radio there is always a lag before it shuts up. Annoys the heck out of me because I'm distracted during that time wondering if it's going to shut up or if I have to hit the button again.  I never had that with proper mechanical buttons.
