I can't imagine they weren't thinking about this type of attack already.  I don't know how ready they are though.  Jamming obvious isn't enough, not with AI navigation and fiber optic.  We may end up with drone tech becoming illegal -- it wouldn't stop the risk, but it would be easier for security organization to track and identify.  Honestly, I don't have a lot of faith that they'll get their shit together soon enough.

The rethink in anti-aircraft defense planning we are going to have to do boggles the mind.  All our AA systems are designed to shoot down missiles and enemy aircraft not swarms of little 3 ft wide drones.  So suddenly we have to add close range radar and AA systems in addition to the Patriot systems all requiring more expensive manpower to operate just to defend one base.

And US made airplanes are not cheap and worse they cannot be rapidly replaced.

I guess I'm stating the obvious but it helps me to comprehend the task when I write it down.

Goose guns and skeet shooting skills anyone?

We've discussed it before, but I believe the navy is all but obsolete now.  Satellite surveillance & targeting, hypersonic missiles, and now swarms of aerial & underwater drones will make short work of slow, lumbering ships.

Ain't no way I'd sign up for duty on an aircraft carrier.
